Dataset Description
3D dataset for the documentation of University Hall while still intact in September and December 2018, and in a semi-demolished state 5 days prior to demolition in May 2019. Data was collected using (2) FARO Focus 3D X130 and (1) FARO Focus 3D laser scanners. Information about the files associated with this dataset can be found in the Read Me file below.

Notes The main project file UniversityHall_RawDataProject.tar.gz has been compressed in a TAR/g-zip file and retains all original raw data. It is in a proprietary .lsproj format which is dependent upon its specific directory structure which must be retained if the main file is to be utilized. This raw data file and its dependencies will require FARO Scene or Scene LT software version 2019 or greater to operate. It is being archived here because it is the only format at this present time that can retains the process taken to register all of the individual raw datasets necessary to produce the final dataset.

The individual datasets of UHall_ordered_scans are also of the .fls proprietary format and will need FARO Scene v.2019 or greater to be utilized.

These datasets retain all original scanner setting information recorded at the time of data acquisition. The .e57 formatted file is the only open source format, but is in binary format. The .ptx, .pts formats provided at the links above are not open but are ASCII-text formats that are human readable and easily parsed. At the time that these files are being archived there is no exported format that retains specific data format acquisition or processing metadata other than the proprietary formatted FARO Scene files as stated above - .lsproj and .fls. For more detailed information regarding these archived files please refer to the Read Me file.
